of American kick off Winter Education Programs at the Evergreen Aviation
Museum" McMinnville, Ore. — The Evergreen Aviation Museum continues its mission to offer aviation education to young people by hosting the Civil Air Patrol's seminars on aviation and aerospace education. The Museum and CAP also will jointly offer an Aviation Merit Badge class for the Boy Scouts of America. CAP classes will be held from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on the second Saturday of each month beginning January 12. Classes are suitable for students ages 11 to 17. Hands-on activities will supplement engaging teaching as students learn about aviation and aerospace in the Museum. Cost for each seminar is $20 and includes supplies and Museum admission. The seminars will be held January 12, February 9 and March 9. Students will learn about the following aspects of aviation: how things fly, lighter and heavier than air flight, parts of an airplane, navigation, weather, and more. The second seminar series occurs April 13, May 11, June 8 and July13. Students will enjoy a variety of activities as they learn about the following topics: rocket principles and systems, manned and unmanned space craft, living and working in space and more. The final session will allow students to participate in the CAP shuttle launch program. The Boys Scout Merit Badge Program will be offered on Feb. 2 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The class will teach scouts about the science and history of aviation by fulfilling objectives required for the Aviation Merit Badge. A Scout troop from the Seattle will attend this program; 10 spaces are still available in the class. When students pay the required $5.50 Museum admission fee, the Merit Badge Program is free.
