If you do not have the opportunity to visit us here at the Museum, we would be pleased to come to you. We offer an Outreach Education Program. Our Outreach Coordinator will provide a tailored (Washington/Oregon) standards aligned presentation at your school that lasts from 45 minutes to 1 hour. These presentations will be formatted to meet your time frame and curriculum needs.
The content of our presentations, whether at the Museum or at your school site, consist of teaching your students aviation and space-related science, technology, engineering, and mathematics with “hands-on” lessons to public and private schools for grades kindergarten-12th, affirming college as an expectation, and fostering and inspiring careers in aviation, engineering, science, technology, and mathematics.
If you have any special interests/subjects that may be unique to your students, please let us know so we can make every effort to incorporate them into our presentation. Please Please feel free to call our Education Coordinator for Outreach Education, Matthew Van Dixon at 503-434-4180 Ext: 4470 (or E-mail to: matthew.vandixon@sprucegoose.org) or Larry Wood, Director of Education at 503-434-4180 Ext: 4790, to schedule a school tour/ or class presentation, or both, if you like. |

Please click here for additional details.
This program for ages 12-18 allows youth to develop their communication and presentation skills while earning resumé-building experience in a safe and enjoyable environment.
By becoming a member of our team, you will get to do exciting hands-on demonstrations for museum visitors on weekends. Located throughout the museum are Discovery Carts that contain fun educational materials such as a wind tunnel and unique historical memorabilia. Using these supplies, you will present and explain concepts such as aerodynamics, aerospace science, and forces in motion, while also highlighting space program spin-offs and bringing the tales of historical figures to life.
As a Discovery Ambassador you will have the opportunity to learn cool new things, gain valuable experience, be a part of a rewarding team, and make new friends!
